Discovering Australia Through Accessible Travel with Christine!

Join us as we explore Christine and her husband’s exciting travel experiences. Through their partnership with STX, an accessible and inclusive travel agency focussing on individuals with accessibility needs, Christine has been able to explore the beauty of Australia while ensuring accessibility and comfort. Let’s hear about their adventures, challenges, and the support provided by STX.

“Canberra was a delightful surprise,” Christine shared. “Visiting my 90 year old godmother and exploring the region was a heartwarming experience.”

Christine lives with Parkinson’s, making thoughtful planning essential. Due to compromised mobility, Christine is unable to walk long distances, so STX tailored itineraries that offer more time for her to enjoy sightseeing at a comfortable pace. Additionally, STX arranged accommodations with lifts, minimal steps and an accessible bathroom to ensure her comfort throughout the journey.

With STX’s expertise, every detail like accessible accommodations and carefully planned itineraries is covered, giving Christine the freedom to enjoy each moment to the fullest.

Despite facing some minor inconveniences, such as a lack of hot water at their accommodation, Christine and her husband remained positive and made the most of their trip.

“STX has been instrumental in making our travels a reality,” Christine expressed. “Sam, our travel advisor, has been incredibly supportive, ensuring that everything is taken care of.”

The agency’s expertise in accessible travel and their understanding of the NDIS made the process seamless.

Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance,” Christine advises. “The staff is often eager to help.”

She also recommends researching accessible options beforehand and packing strategically. “Embrace the unexpected,” she continues. “Travel plans can change, and it’s important to be flexible.”

“Tasmania was absolutely breathtaking,” Christine gushed. “The stunning landscapes and rich history captivated us.” She particularly enjoyed exploring the historic town of Port Arthur, despite being slightly disappointed by some of the buildings that were in disrepair. “The convict cells and the flogging area were fascinating,” she said. “It was a glimpse into the harsh realities of the past.”
